While visiting Duluth to celebrate our big day with us, you may want to check out some of the other tourist attractions nearby!
We suggest that you check out….
- Canal Park – Check out the Duluth harbor by going for a stroll on the Lakewalk, view the historic lift bridge, watch ships come and go, check out the unique shops, and grab a bite to eat.
- Grandma’s Saloon and Grill in Canal Park – While you’re checking out Canal Park, we suggest you grab some food at Grandma’s!
- Canal Park Brewing Company- another Canal Park attraction, the Canal Park Brewing Co. Be sure to stop by and taste some of their handcrafted brews! Plus, you can take a tour of the brewery ($8 gets you the tour, a glass, and a pint- it’s a great deal!). If you love it as much as we do, grab a growler to take home with you! Bride’s recommendation: Stoned Surf IPA. Groom’s recommendation: Nut Brown Ale.
- Spirit Mountain Adventure Park and Recreation Area – Besides being the sight for our wedding, Spirit Mountain has lots of other fun stuff to check out. During the summer months, Spirit Mountain Adventure Park has a 9-hole mini golf course, “Timber Twister” Alpine Coaster, “Timber Flyer” Zip Line, and mountain biking and scenic chairlift rides. It also features a new restaurant and a campground!
- Vista Fleet- If you’re looking to get out onto beautiful Lake Superior, then check out the Vista Fleet sightseeing and dining cruises.
Head up the North Shore!
- Sawtooth Mountain Park and Lutsen Mountains- If you have time to head further north, check out the adventure park at Lutsen Mountains, located about 90 minutes north of Duluth. Alpine Slide, mountain biking, horseback riding, gondola rides, great restaurants, and more! One of our favorite spots on the North Shore.
- Gooseberry Falls State Park- Another favorite spot on the North Shore, located about 45 minutes north of Duluth. Do some hiking on the trails, check out the falls, and learn more at the visitor center.
- Split Rock Lighthouse- Located about an hour north of Duluth, this historic sight offers tours and some breathtaking photo opportunities.
- City of Two Harbors- If you decide to head north, be sure to take a few minutes to check out the city of Two Harbors! Lots of cute coffee shops and restaurants to check out.
- City of Tofte- Tofte also offers a few nice places to stop and grab a bite. Erin’s personal recommendation is to check out the Coho Cafe located near Bluefin Bay resort. They have delicious food, but Erin’s favorite thing to do is grab a pastry (chocolate croissant!) and some coffee and go for a short walk down the boardwalk for some fresh air and beautiful views of Lake Superior!
And if you’ve really got some time, head even FURTHER north!….
- City of Grand Marais- located just over 2 hours north of Duluth! One of Erin’s favorite places to visit on the north shore, full of great shops, World’s Best Donuts, a cute coffee cart located right on the water, and several events take place almost every weekend throughout the summer- including a fun event called the Fisherman’s picnic the weekend of our wedding!
